how concerned R U about the recent increase in MRSA A highly resistant form of
MRSA is a highly resistant form of the infection staphylococcus. Although we all carry staph on our bodies (primarily in our nostrils), MRSA is a virulent form of the infection that can have fatal results. What was once typically reported being found primarily in hospitals, nursing homes, etc., has now made its way into more and more public venues such as schools, athletic/locker rooms, and even CLASSROOMS!
Just yesterday (Monday, 29 October 2007), there was a confirmed case of MRSA in one of the schools within our local school district in Newark, Ohio (Licking County)!
Last week, there was an article on AOL News suggesting buy wow weapons that MRSA infections may one day EXCEED those of AIDS. {This report allegedly originated from recent scientific evidence suggesting the accelerated number of MRSA infections within the past few years}.
How worried are buy wow weapons all of you out there with this new strain of staph?????
It was inevitable that antibiotic resistant bacteria would arise. We have lived in what might, in future years, be termed a wow gold Golden Age. Humans have not had antibiotics for most of our history. MRSA has long been known to be in the community. I remember a lecture about it over a year ago. As long as the immune system is healthy, MRSA is not a danger: since Staph aureus is a normal bacteria on our skin. Most of the time we never know about it.
Also, there are 3rd generation antibiotics that will kill MRSA. The trick is getting the right diagnosis that the infection is MRSA instead of normal Staph. aureus.
Currentley, Im an eigth grader at a school near detriot, and everyone is making the biggest deal about it. So this type of staff is resistant to methilicillin, which is the best antibiotic for staff. There are still antibiotics that work on it, just not with the same amount of success. I have absolutley no fear of this bacterial infection. but that is just me. Whenever there are these new diseases that everyone starts freaking out about, I just research it a little bit and figure out that I have nothing to worry about(im an aspiring virologist, so I do this to learn ect.). If your afraid, just don't share razors, towells, ect. and don't get in any close phisical contact with anyone, its not too hard for me! If your a parent, go ahead and get worried, IT'S YOUR JOB!!!!!! Reaserch it like I do, and just follow some simple rules, and also try to work out some statistics of the likliness of you or some one in your family getting it. Whatever you do, don't believe rumors of it 'cuase that won't help, it will probably make it worse. There have been at least 4 rumors of people with MRSA at my school, and I have prooved them all to be false(I never even bothered believing them to begin with). Don't gt me wrong, this is a bad infection, and there have been people that died, im not saying this is a harmless cold or something, I just think people are over reacting a bit. My mom even showed me an article that you don'y have much to worry about(although, the media is an evil twisted place, so I don't trust the newspaper to much). I think that this is gonna pass over like mad cow disease and anthrax, which I wasn't concerned about those either. So, to sum it up, NO im not worried!
